적지 않은 명문 사립기숙학교에서 P.G코스를 가지고 있다. 미국의 고등학교 학제가 12학년(고3)으로 졸업을 하는 것으로 알고있는 학부모에게는 다소 생소한 제도이다.
언뜻 영국의 A-level 과정과 흡사하나, 해외유학생들이 현재의 학교에서 졸업을 했으나, 시간적인 적응시간부족으로 대학진학시의 학과성적의 미흡함이나 또는 현재 학교에서의 충분치 않은 커리큘럼이나 Activity등으로 본인이 원하는 대학의 요구사항에 비해 다소 부족하게 판단될 때 진학에 유리한 조건을 재충족시키기 위해 미국사립기숙학교에서 재수 아닌 재수를 선택하는 제도이다.
지원자는 고교졸업자만이 자격이 주어지고 Philips의 경우 지난 학기에 30여명을 뽑았고 대개의 다른학교도 학년정원의 20-25% 정도를 입학시킨다.지원시에는대학입시에 필요한 SAT점수를 요구한다 (PHILIPS의 경우 verbal 560 Math 610 정도) . 기간은 1년이며, P.G코스를 선택한 학교의 졸업요건이 충족되면 이 학교의 졸업장을 받게 된다.PGcourse 는 현재 110여개의 사립기숙학교에 개설되어 있으며

How many one-year seniors and PGs attend Andover?
Each year 30-35 students enroll - approximately 60 percent are boys and 40 percent are girls.
Where are these students from?
Our PGs and one-year seniors come from the United States and around the world. Roughly half of Andover’s PGs and one-year seniors are international students.
Why do students come for a one-year program?
The reasons are many:
- Exhausted meaningful or challenging courses at their current high schools.
- Interested in our wide range of extracurricular activities.
- Interested in a year away from home before the college experience for academic, social or physical growth.
- International students often find it advantageous to spend a year on an American campus.
How do one-year seniors and PGs select their courses?
Advisers, department chairs and college counselors will review transcripts, teacher recommendations and placement tests to help students choose an appropriate course of study. Students are encouraged to explore new disciplines and pursue passions in depth. They are able to refine skills in traditional subjects, like writing and math, in order to develop the confidence they need to be successful students in college.
Are there classes designed specifically for one-year seniors and PGs?
No. Andover's curriculum is so broad, deep and flexible that it can meet the needs of students who come with different levels of preparation, goals and strengths.
Do one-year seniors and PGs live in their own dorms?
No. One-year seniors and PGs are spread out through a variety of upper class dorms on campus, living with lowers, uppers and returning seniors.
How are one-year seniors and PGs integrated into the Andover community?
In September, every new student attends a multi-day orientation program run by our student spirit organization, Blue Key. The emphasis at Andover is on rapid integration of all new students; therefore one-year seniors live in the same dormitories, are held to the same rules and enjoy the same privileges as all other seniors.
Will I earn a diploma?
All one-year seniors and PGs are diploma candidates. Upon successful completion of course work in their year at Andover, all will receive Phillips Academy diplomas.
When do I apply?
The application deadline is January 15 for day students and February 1 for boarding students. Postgraduates, please note that you must apply to Andover at the same time that you are applying to colleges. Admission decisions are mailed March 10.
How difficult is it to gain admission to Andover?
Between 20 percent and 25 percent of applicants to the one-year senior and PG classes are offered admission to Phillips Academy.
What are the median standardized test scores of matriculants?
The median SAT scores from 1995 through 1998 were Verbal: 560 and Math: 610. There is not a cutoff for SAT scores. Applicants are judged on their personal application, grades, recommendations and interview, as well as their standardized test scores. Character, potential contribution to the school and commitment to pursuing a vigorous life at Andover play a significant role in an applicant's admission.
Who will help me with my college application process?
You will be assigned a college counselor in mid-August before your year at Andover. Your college counselor will see you through the college selection process.
How do colleges evaluate one-year seniors and PGs?
Colleges evaluate one-year seniors and post graduates by measuring how effectively they make use of their year at Andover. When they review applications, they will look for a solid program of academic courses executed well, contributions to the school and community life, academic improvement and increased maturity, as well as your record from your previous school. Small classes, residential life and the faculty's experience with one-year seniors and PGs ensure that you will receive close attention during your year here. This will help you make the most of your time at Andover and will enable the faculty to write substantive college recommendations on your behalf.
Where do most one-year seniors and PGs go to college after Andover?
Between the classes of 1994 and 1998, 167 students - 78 one-year seniors and 89 PGs - matriculated at 79 different colleges and universities. The following schools matriculated three or more graduates from Andover:
